WHO LET THE CAT OUT? WHO? WHO? WHO WHO?

Found on Damn Cool Pics, this homemade video shows what happens when you set your cat loose on a black bear. Another meal for the bear? A territorial dispute? Or, an in your face pwning?

WASN'T HE ALREADY DEAD?

To my surprise, and probably many others, J.D. Salinger died today.  And it's no surprise either. Reclusive in nature and lacking much published material since the landmark The Catcher In The Rye, let's take a moment to appreciate this literary legend.

January 1, 1919-January 27,2010
According to Gawker
Supposedly, he's still been writing constantly over these last 50 years. The battle over his unpublished work will probably be drawn out and bitter, but a nation of former insufferably precocious little bastards waits with bated breath.

CRAFTSMAN GETS CRAFTY WITH THEIR ADS

In an effort to get younger males to start using their products, Craftsman is reaching out with the ultimate male tool, the hammer. As the ad says, do not try this at home (unless you have an old car that you want to destroy with a hammer). Anyone? Via: Ad Pulp and Craftsman Labs

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SETS THE TEABAGGERS STRAIGHT

National Geographic has conducted an interesting study: Comparing the cost of health care around the world to each country's respective life expectancy. We already know the United States has the most expensive health care, but what's worse than overpaying for health care, living in a country that's in the bottom half in regards to life expectancy. Put that in your Tea Bagging pipe and smoke it.

CHIMPS FILM, AN ANIMAL PRODUCTION

Armed with Chimp-proof videocameras, these chimpanzees are about to debut their first self shot film to the world on the BBC. Here's a clip of the footage these guys shot.

OH, THERE HE IS

Banksy seems to know where Bin Laden has been hiding this whole time. Good luck opening the door.

INTERACTIVE CD

Gorgeous idea by Hubero Kororo. An interactive CD cover for the band Uceroz. Open the CD packaging on the side and ink will be set free and bleed into the cover of the CD, and voilá! You have your very own unique cover. Via todayandtomorrow.

SUPER HERO CULTURE

I love Ian Pool's work. This series puts a twist on super heros. It shows them in our very own human environment making them look as mortal and fragile as everyday people. Via cyanatrendland.

DELICIOUS STICKY NOTES

THE PINK & BLUE PROJECT

A widely exhibited project by Seoul photographer JeongMee Yoon. The series deals with children's preferences for blue and pink colors based on gender, which she believes is not influenced by cultural background, but by modern universal trends such as advertising. In 2006, she received her MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Via Feature Shoot.

BEST HEADLINE EVER

CRACK ROCK CANDY. THIS IS NOT CRACKADE APPROVED

Kids these days will do anything to get their fix.
Lucky for us, this idiot teenager will have this video
to explain for the rest of his life.

THE ARTVERTISER

This project considers Puerta del Sol Madrid, Times Square New York, Shibuya Tokyo and other sites dense with advertisements as potential exhibition space. The Artvertiser is a hand-held, augmented-reality project exploring on-site substitution of advertising content for the purposes of exhibiting art. By artist and developer Julian Oliver, with collaboration of Clara Boj and Diego Diaz. A neat way to exhibit art on a mobile platform.

RENEWABLE CLOTHING BY FERNANDO BRIZIO

Italian designer Fernando BrĂzio came up with this great fashion idea. By placing colored felt-tip pens in the pockets of the dress its appearance changes over time. within an hour - to one and a half hours the colored ink bleeds into the fabric and creates a one-off design for each occasion. the owner can then clean the dress and color it in a different way for each time they wear it. BLOG OF THE NIGHT: OUR GIF TO YOU

Ourgiftoyou, created by friends Josh Koenig and Lindsay Stevens, took one of my biggest guilty pleasures and made a tumblr site dedicated to it.
Beware: You may get hypnotized by the blinking Asian chick.

SPEAKING OUT ON CYBER BULLYING: A POEM BY DOLPHIN BOY

As media usage trends increase, the way we interact with one another adapts as well. And that very issue is affecting how teenagers tease and hurt one another. Here is a brilliant viral ad about Dolphins by the people against Cyber Bullying. Here is how it played out. Second video is how the media has covered this growing epidemic in teenage life.

SPIKE JONZE + ABSOLUT = ABSOLUT MOVIE

Premiering today, a collaboration between Absolut Vodka and acclaimed director Spike Jonze. Below you will find the trailer to this 30 minute short feature. Drink up, it's Friday! Via: I'm Here (official page)

From Spike Jonze:
"It was a pretty incredible opportunity," says Jonze. "They (ABSOLUT) didn't give me any requirements to make a movie that had anything to do with vodka. They just wanted me to make something that was important to me, and let my imagination take me wherever I wanted. And it wasn't like working with some huge corporation where I had to meet with committees of people. It was just a small group, and it seemed like creativity and making something that affected them emotionally was the only thing that really mattered to them. I got to make my first love story. It's about the relationship between two robots living in Los Angeles". I'm Here will also screen at the Berlin Film Festival in February, followed by a global release in March on www.imheremovie.com. View the teaser trailer at the official film site www.imheremovie.com.

THE MOST EPIC SAVE THE DATE TO DATE

Hey all you happily engaged couples out there. You might not want to watch this in fear of not being able to top its awesome. Jeff and Erin are getting married on 10-10-2010. Are you invited to the premier?

GET A ROOM

But first, get a date. Wooster Collective found these photos from OKCupid that breakdown what guys and girls are looking for in a dating profile picture. Pretty compelling evidence that guys need to smile less, not face the camera and most definitely hold an animal. A dog would probably be less creepy, but go for a Parakeet or marmot if you're feeling lucky. According to these photos, if you do all this, your odds of attracting that perfect match might just require nothing more than the least amount of effort and the perfect badass pose.

DO IT AGAIN!!

LOOOOVE this photographer's work. Part photography and part installation, Li Wei's images are of dangerous, slightly distorted, crazy moments. But that just maybe could be real. via moillusions.com

THE PICTURES IN BETWEEN BIG AND SMALL THINGS

Kevin Van Aelst's work examines the distance between the 'big picture' and the 'little things.' His photography depicts these parallels by looking at everyday things, creating some kind of explanation or order to the everyday. via environmentalgraffiti.com
