I'M STILL HERE: HOAX OR GENIUS OR NEITHER?

The official trailer is out and the debate continues: have Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck constructed the most drawn out Kaufman-esque prank, or have they created an introspective look at a Hollywood actor quitting his profession to pursue a hip hop career? The biggest crime about the reality genre is the amount of reality it usually lacks. Although, Joaquin did sing those songs in Walk the Line...

Joaquin, for the most part, has managed to maintain a relatively low profile throughout the filming of I'm Still Here. He has sprung up from time to time, most notably his bizarre Letterman show appearance in 2009 where he mumbled, appeared bewildered and was pretty much clueless about the movie he was there to promote —all with a film crew documenting his 'transformation.' The film's distributor, Magnolia Pictures, swear this is not a "mocumentary." If anything, they at least put together a really intriguing movie trailer. Guess the mystery will have to linger on until its September 10th premier. Watch the trailer and then decide for yourself. Via:  Billboard & @taylorlecroy

FAKE OREGON TRAIL MOVIE TRAILER

Wish this trailer was real? Don't we all. Everybody's favorite childhood game, The Oregon Trail, would definitely make a far better movie based off a game —heck, give us Pit Fall, too— than most of the ones we've had to look away in shame at; Doom or Mortal Combat anyone? Well envisioned story line, even if it is fake. Via: Boing Boing

THE NEW MACHETE TRAILER HAS SPOKEN

Some people still believe that Machete isn't a real movie. To their credit, this movie does seem made up. But, like most exploitation films of the 70s, the bizarre is real and the pulpier it gets, the more ridiculous it seems. The new trailer focuses on Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez (Chicks in black leather with double gun holsters seem to get our attention). Movie comes out just in time for the fall.

WINNEBAGO MAN: THE MOVIE (NSFW)

Never in a million years would you fathom a Youtube sensation like Winnebago Man would lead to a full blown documentary. But, it kinda makes undeniable sense. It's been 20 years since the footage from the Youtube hit was filmed, and now it's the mission of two men to track down the most pissed off salesman in the world (not an easy task) and shed light on that fateful day in 1990 when all hell broke loose in the Winne yard. via: The Consumerist

Now playing in a theater near you.. (Caution: Uncensored trailer)

SPIKE JONZE + ABSOLUT = ABSOLUT MOVIE

Premiering today, a collaboration between Absolut Vodka and acclaimed director Spike Jonze. Below you will find the trailer to this 30 minute short feature. Drink up, it's Friday! Via: I'm Here (official page)

From Spike Jonze:
"It was a pretty incredible opportunity," says Jonze. "They (ABSOLUT) didn't give me any requirements to make a movie that had anything to do with vodka. They just wanted me to make something that was important to me, and let my imagination take me wherever I wanted. And it wasn't like working with some huge corporation where I had to meet with committees of people. It was just a small group, and it seemed like creativity and making something that affected them emotionally was the only thing that really mattered to them. I got to make my first love story. It's about the relationship between two robots living in Los Angeles". I'm Here will also screen at the Berlin Film Festival in February, followed by a global release in March on www.imheremovie.com. View the teaser trailer at the official film site www.imheremovie.com.
