LESSONS IN SIMPLICITY: PICTOGRAM MOVIE POSTERS

It's not just the execution, but the simplicity of the idea that creates the greatest impact. Swedish designer Victor Hertz's series of Pictogram movie posters proves that putting a new spin on something old can generate pretty fresh results.

FISH BOOTH: FRESH USE OF A USELESS OBJECT

Who's used a phone booth recently? I can't think of the last time I stepped into one (on purpose). Thanks to lighting designer Benoit Deseille and artist Benedetto Bufalino, the phone booth has a new life.

Taken to task to contribute to the annual Festival of Lights in Lyon, France, Benoit and Benedetto have transformed an unused phone booth into a living aquarium. The juxtaposition and intrigue this simple installation has generated gives new reason to re-examine modern day uses of abandoned and obsolete structures such as the lonely phone booth. With the right city works and community involvement, a world with street aquariums has an exciting future. Via: Good

                          With the advent of the mobile telephone, telephone booths lie unused. 
                          We rediscover this glass cage transformed into an aquarium, full of 
                          exotically colored fish; an invitation to escape and travel.

WOKE UP TO VINTAGE AWESOMENESS

The internet is a mind blowing place. And sometimes all you need is a great twitter feed to blow your mind to pieces. These ads were produced sometime between 1840-1875 and preserved by the Library of Congress. Epic design work. Can only imagine the amount of time these took to create. THE FAMOUS EYES MAKE THE FRAMES

Moxy Creative has a cool poster series entitled 'Framework' that pays tribute to the famous faces and the eye wear they made iconic. PORN IN THE USA by JONATHAN YEO (NSFW,duh)

British artist Jonathan Yeo has been making a statement about the United States culture for a few years now. You can see the whole series of 'Porn in the USA' courtesy of LAZ Gallery @ 320 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. Show runs through August 8th, 2010.

Yeo masters the art of subtlety of photo collage and incorporates erotic imagery to create what looks like seemingly harmless portraits.   From your attention craving politicians to socialites to the every day, Yeo has caused quite a stir with his subject matter.
