TODAY IN WEIRD: RUBIX CUBE HEAD

This ad by Chi & Partners for British beverage, Drench, is pretty bizarre. But it kept my attention and the payoff 'brains perform better hydrated,' is a smart sell.  Previous Drench ads, especially the fish one below, are awesomely entertaining as well. via: Buzzfeed

STUDENTS BREATHE LIFE BACK INTO HP WITH "HIT PRINT"

HP hasn't had much buzz lately. It's been about 5 years since they were hyping their printers for digital pictures with catchy songs about pictures playing in the background. Not trying to downplay those, they were awesome. But these videos —the first originally created by London students, Matt Robinson and Tom Wrigglesworth— for an HP Student competition are cool if anything for the clever use of flip-book animation. The paper was fed in real time and the footage was then sped up in post production to create the animation. HP was so impressed, they brought them back for a sequel. I'm looking forward to seeing this on the bigscreen. via: The Jailbreak

CRACKDOWN: NYT FACEBOOK PRIVACY FLOW CHART

The good folks at the New York Times have broken down the dizzying array of privacy changes Facebook are implementing more and more regularly. In a time when consumers have control, or want control, Facebook might just be shooting themselves in the foot with their penchant to confuse and sell your personal data for profit. I remember when Facebook put their trust in user opinion. It seems the more Facebook tries to commoditize, the more they take advantage of the Facebook users that make their service thrive.

Interesting factoid: Facebook has a longer privacy policy than the United States Constitution

HEINEKEN'S GOT TALENT...

in their ads. The follow up to 'Walk in Fridge' gives us 'Men with Talent,' and every awe inspiring beer bottle trick you can imagine. Even a sick bottle flute rendition of a Karate Kid song. Gold star.

BATTLE QUEST: DIGITAL EMPIRE

Gizmodo has put together this map to figure out who's winning the battle to control the money train. Is this the modern day gold rush or another bubble? It appears we're in for an explosion of growth and a resurrection of the ad and publishing industries. It will be interesting to see how much of a stake these companies end up with. EPIC FAILS OF THE WEEK

And you thought only birds smacked into glass. For one Mullen ad agency Creative Director, the agency security camera was, well, in the right place at the right time.

This high jumper is raising the bar on pure failure and perpetuating the dumb blonde stereotype epically.

CAMPER, A WOMAN CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH SHOES

This spot, by Camper of Spain, takes a nice subtle spin on Valentine's Day to promote their free shipping for the week. By only focusing on the feet, Camper is able to tell a timeless story made possible only by the foot fetish, er, shoe fetish of a woman. Props. Oh, and their shoes are damn comfortable to boot.
