EINE IS HAVING 'THE STRANGEST WEEK'

If you haven't heard of Ben Eine by now, he's the British street artist known for his fancy letters and the 21st Century City canvas that the British PM gifted to Barack Obama last week. Looks like the out-of-left-field buzz has generated this banging response over on Hackney Road in London. via: Urban Art Association

ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF BEATLES HAIRSTYLES

Sweet illustration of the Beatles hairstyles through the years. Duly noted that they all had killer staches in 1967. By 1970, they looked like they could have been the first cast of Survivor. via: This Isn't Happiness

CHECK OUT MY HELMET

I don't know about you, but when I see someone with a helmet, they usually look like overprotective nerds. These, on the other hand, may give you the praise and attention you want from a life saving noggin device, or a few good, "wow, nice helmet."  Or, it may just confirm you are kinda weird. It can go either way. Safety first. Via: DYT

PORN IN THE USA by JONATHAN YEO (NSFW,duh)

British artist Jonathan Yeo has been making a statement about the United States culture for a few years now. You can see the whole series of 'Porn in the USA' courtesy of LAZ Gallery @ 320 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. Show runs through August 8th, 2010.

Yeo masters the art of subtlety of photo collage and incorporates erotic imagery to create what looks like seemingly harmless portraits.   From your attention craving politicians to socialites to the every day, Yeo has caused quite a stir with his subject matter. He has also given this series a nice twist with his foliage collection done with the same erotic composition. Look closely. You may or may not like what you see. via: Jonathan Yeo

PUG SINGS BATMAN

Owning a pug myself, I am naturally entranced by anything pug. Let's be honest, dogs rule. And so does this pug that is right on tune with the Batman theme song. Via: Jake n' Jasper

THE PRICE IS RIGHT AS STAGE PROP

I've never been on the Showcase Showdown, but if there is one thing I've always wanted to do is spin that wheel. Don't know what the Black Keys plans are during concerts for the Price is Right wheel, but I'm sure it's gonna be awesome. Via: Black Keys

THE NEW MACHETE TRAILER HAS SPOKEN

Some people still believe that Machete isn't a real movie. To their credit, this movie does seem made up. But, like most exploitation films of the 70s, the bizarre is real and the pulpier it gets, the more ridiculous it seems. The new trailer focuses on Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez (Chicks in black leather with double gun holsters seem to get our attention). Movie comes out just in time for the fall.

OOOOH. FULL 'SOCIAL NETWORK' TRAILER

Watch it if only for the female choir rendition of Radiohead's "Creep." But, it works, and this is looking pretty legit to check out. Should be interesting to see the response from Mr. Facebook himself, Mark Zuckerberg. David Fincher, the man who brought us Fight Club, may have the follow up to finally rival it. You are not a unique and beautiful snowflake. Via: Guy Kawasaki

WINNEBAGO MAN: THE MOVIE (NSFW)

Never in a million years would you fathom a Youtube sensation like Winnebago Man would lead to a full blown documentary. But, it kinda makes undeniable sense. It's been 20 years since the footage from the Youtube hit was filmed, and now it's the mission of two men to track down the most pissed off salesman in the world (not an easy task) and shed light on that fateful day in 1990 when all hell broke loose in the Winne yard. via: The Consumerist

Now playing in a theater near you.. (Caution: Uncensored trailer)

LIMBAUGH RESORTS TO RACISM IN REPORTING STEINBRENNER'S DEATH

In typical fashion today, Limbaugh has to perpetuate a hate filled message even in light of George Steinbrenner's death. Instead of focusing on Steinbrenner's legacy, Rush decides to invoke intolerance and racism to report the passing of the most successful owner in baseball. The country is still waiting for you to move to Costa Rica, Limbaugh. Hopefully, New York City will help you get the ball rolling.Via: Media Matters

CREEPY HUMANOID ROBOTS FROM VERMONT

The ultimate goal for many scientists is to create robots that look, think and act like humans. Artificial life. I've seen the Terminator and Alien series, and from that alone, the thought of it has always seemed to creep me out (except the part in Aliens where Bishop does the knife trick).  When you reach the point of giving an artificial being the power of irrationality and emotion, don't be surprised at the outcome it derives. via: creativity

STUDENTS BREATHE LIFE BACK INTO HP WITH "HIT PRINT"

HP hasn't had much buzz lately. It's been about 5 years since they were hyping their printers for digital pictures with catchy songs about pictures playing in the background. Not trying to downplay those, they were awesome. But these videos —the first originally created by London students, Matt Robinson and Tom Wrigglesworth— for an HP Student competition are cool if anything for the clever use of flip-book animation. The paper was fed in real time and the footage was then sped up in post production to create the animation. HP was so impressed, they brought them back for a sequel. I'm looking forward to seeing this on the bigscreen. via: The Jailbreak

PHISH AGAINST THE MACHINE

Since Phish launched their Summer tour, the band has been pulling out new covers night after night, virtually learning them before that day's shows. We've witnessed solid versions of The Beatles "I am the Walrus," Led Zepplin's "The Rover," The Stones "Jumping Jack Flash" and now, to close the first leg of the tour, Phish shows us they can nail Rage's "Killing in the Name of."

MAJOR LEAGUE EATING INFRINGES ON THE AMERICAN WAY

"Let him eat! Let him eat!" shouted the crowd as the New York Police arrested famed eater, Kobayashi, at the 2010 Coney Island Hot Dog Eating contest. In a dispute with Major League Eating over his desire to participate in unsanctioned MLE events, Kobayashi was barred from participating in the world's most popular eating contest —and the one he put on the map— this July 4th. As seen in the video below, Kobayashi's mere presence and urge to reclaim the hot dog eating throne was quickly put to an end with his arrest.

Has competitive eating really come to this? Do we need an official organization like the MLE to control something as benign as a bunch of people gathered to inhale as much food in a given time span. I admire their ability to turn gluttony into a sanctioned "sport," but this is a new low. People come to see Kobayashi and Joey "Jaws" Chestnutt eat. With out those two, there is no "sport." Period. Maybe it's time the MLE went with their gut and stopped acting like this event is more exclusive than it really is. If you have a stomach and a penchant for water, buns and dogs, you're in. End of story. It's the American way.
