THE BROTHERS OF CHICO DUSTY MASHUP IS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE
The Black Keys and Big Boi made two of the most acclaimed albums in 2010 (Brothers and Sir Luscious Left Foot). DJ Wick-it the Instigator blended these two albums with such precision, resulting in heavy southern grooves complimented by The Black Keys signature bluesy soul. Hear it for yourself below. HAPPY RELIGIOUS HOLIDAY MUSIC
When you need that perfect song to play while you're drinking Irish coffee and eggnog by the fireplace, look no further than this retro version of "White Winter Hymnal" the Fleet Foxes just unleashed. It was recorded in the key of Sega. So sit back, relax and relish in those youthful days of the early 90s. Mistletoe.
If you were more the NES type, Fleet Foxes also converted their song "Mykonos" into an 8-bit Nintendo version. If only cool bands back in the day decided to get into the video game music making business. The soundtracks would have been epic. A Guns N' Roses Nintendo game soundtrack? Imagine that.

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM-2010 ALBUM OF THE YEAR
There's no other contender in my mind. LCD Soundsystem released what is rumored to be their last album, This is Happening, in May. The sound is ahead of its time. The tracks are sprawling in size (most clock in at over seven minutes). Nonetheless, the whole album is grounded in rhythm and lyrical themes any person can relate to. Band producer, lyricist and vocalist James Murphy's tracks are infectious in their honest nature, giving you the sense you've been there too. And you'll want to go back to it again and again. Dig it.

THE GREATEST THANKSGIVING HORROR MOVIE THAT NEVER HAPPENED
Ridiculosly campy fake trailers appeared during the intermission of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's 2007 double feature, Grindhouse. One of them (Machete) ended up becoming a full fledged movie. But the rest, however, live on in 'what if' infamy. As we approach Thanksgiving and give thanks for the people and things we have in our lives, lets pray for that one day Eli Roth's fake horror film trailer, Thanksgiving, gets the full feature treatment. Dream on.
Note: If you are bothered by decapitations, nudity, fake blood and other horror movie staples, you should probably not watch the video.

The Flaming Lips performance on Yo Gabba Gabba made me realize they'd make a great kids album. Wayne Coyne's gives off a good Alice in Wonderland sugar coated in darkness vibe. THE WICKED WORLD OF WIDE OPEN WALLS
Eelus, Xenz, and a band of street artists are coming together for two weeks—painting began last week—to go deep into the Gambia of Africa and bring their aesthetics to an ongoing S.T.E.P. (Sustainable Tourism to Eliminate Poverty) project by Larry Bushdweller.
Bushdweller started the Ballabu Conservation Project in 2004; an 85 square kilometer area, incorporating 14 villages and the 100,000 people that surround Makasutu. His main focus has been 'to help create projects that will eventually bring prosperity and sustainability to this area where subsistence farming is the main livelihood.'
The goal of Wide Open Walls, an art safari led by Eelus, is to transform the area into a living art village while attracting a growth in tourism. All photography is courtesy of Wallkandy's very own, Ian Cox. Below are just a few images that have started popping up on the WOW website. Hop over to the official site for ongoing updates. KANYE + BIEBER = RUN
Kanye dropped this Runaway Love Remix on a recent G.O.O.D. Friday. It's something so ridiculous that you gotta hear. This song is in no sense an upgrade having Bieber — or as Kanye calls him 'JB' — taking on the hook responsibilities. Although I give Kanye props for having the balls to go there, so far, I'm unsold. If the original version of this song is Bieberless, it has a shot.

MARCO'S BRINGING CARICATURE BACK
For the most part, caricature artists always bugged me. They always excel at drawing attention to your least flattering features —for me it was my big nose— while attempting to capture 'you' in the awkward few minutes you sit before them. I'M STILL HERE: HOAX OR GENIUS OR NEITHER?
The official trailer is out and the debate continues: have Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck constructed the most drawn out Kaufman-esque prank, or have they created an introspective look at a Hollywood actor quitting his profession to pursue a hip hop career? The biggest crime about the reality genre is the amount of reality it usually lacks. Although, Joaquin did sing those songs in Walk the Line...
Joaquin, for the most part, has managed to maintain a relatively low profile throughout the filming of I'm Still Here. He has sprung up from time to time, most notably his bizarre Letterman show appearance in 2009 where he mumbled, appeared bewildered and was pretty much clueless about the movie he was there to promote —all with a film crew documenting his 'transformation.' The film's distributor, Magnolia Pictures, swear this is not a "mocumentary." If anything, they at least put together a really intriguing movie trailer. Guess the mystery will have to linger on until its September 10th premier. Watch the trailer and then decide for yourself. Via: Billboard & @taylorlecroy

This map, created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will verify that, yes, Earth is getting hotter on a global scale. 14 nations have already surpassed previous record highs. In MohenjuDaro, Pakistan, temperatures reached a scorching 128.3 F. Whether we created our own predicament or the Sun is 'waking-up' is another story. Bring on the brownouts. via: Good

WEEZER RESORTS TO MORE GIMMICKS TO REMAIN RELEVANT
There was a time when geeky excitement preceded the release of a Weezer album. Sadly, their ability to draw attention to themselves has worn off over the span of lackluster efforts, borrowed interest and desperate collaborations (Lil Wayne, anyone?). Their past videos have featured Muppets, as well as a viral video extravaganza homage, which were fun. I just wonder if their continued reliance on gimmicks to generate buzz has left them complacent and uninterested in ever attempting to refine and reinvent their sound. I personally gave up after Maldroit. Maybe they'll prove us wrong with their upcoming release, Hurley, due out in September. After all, this is their first album since departing Geffen (they are now on Epitaph). I'd love to eat my words for Weezer.
Hurley, like their previous album, Raditude, relies on an album art gimmick to generate interest. This one even comes with a similar 'cover remix' contest that greeted Raditude fans. Unfortunately, an ironic cover such as a flying dog or that bearded fat guy in Lost (Sorry, that's all I know about the show), isn't going to make up for musical performance.
If only Weezer continued to take chances and push themselves like they did during the Pinkerton days, each album wouldn't feel like a watered down version of the one that came before it. Here's hoping for more substance to this album than the random cover art accompanying it. We'd like the Weezer of the 90ties back, please. Via: Spinner

SHARPIE CREATES FIRST PERMANENT PENCIL
Impossible just left the building. Sharpie, the masters of the permanent marker, has invented the first pencil that turns permanent after three days. They're calling it the Liquid Pencil, and it is built with the power to erase like a pencil before those three days are up. If this actually works unlike erasable pens (is there one that even works?), this will be great for sketches, comps, notes and all the paper you wasted in the past because of mistakes. Scheduled for release in September. via: Gizmodo

FLASHBACK IN MUSIC VIDEO HISTORY: VOL. 2
This stop motion music video from Fujiya and Miyagi gives the numbers on dice a trippy new context. The song, Ankle Injuries (2007), serves as a nice catchy backdrop to an animation style that has elements of The White Stripe's Lego stop-motion burner, "Fell in Love with a Girl," and Radiohead's hypnotic "House of Cards." The latter used neither cameras nor lights to film the In Rainbows classic. Of course, any good movie buff will also know the breakthrough off the White Stripes third album was directed by exclaimed eccentric Michel Gondry of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind fame. Either way, never listened to Fujiya and Miyagi until now and it sounds pretty decent. Via: The Jailbreak

HALO 2600: HALO GOES 8-BIT
Halo 2600 is Halo re-imagined for the Atari era thanks to former VP of Microsoft's game publishing division, Ed Fries. Unlike current games where you can get hit a million times before you die, in the Atari age, one hit typically killed you. And there's no saving games, either. Perhaps a cheat code is floating out there on the interwebs. Eat your heart out. And, if you're curious to hear Ed Fries story on how the Halo 2600 game came about, read this.
